Kinghorn Community Donations
Following a difficult 2014 for race finances happily we added Brooks Running UK and the Carousel Bar to our sponsors for 2015 onwards. That together with the ongoing support of our existing sponsors has helped us tremendously in being able to continue supporting other organisations within the community.
At the time of writing ( January 2016) we have been able to pass on the following sums to support organisations in the community:
- £205 pounds to the RNLI to provide the barbecue on race night. All the sales going directly to support the work of Kinghorn lifeboat.
- £500 to Kinghorn Community Centre to help fund the sports hall windows with anti-glare filming.
- £300 to support Kinghorn Children's Gala.
- £200 to support the work of Kinghorn in Bloom.
- £200 to help fund the weekly over-60's lunch club.
- £300 to help with rents for the use of alternative accommodation for the uniformed organisations in Kinghorn.
- £200 to the Anti-Knife Crime group who provided manpower to help us set up and dismantle the crowd control barriers on race night and helped with the uplift on Saturday morning.
- £250 to Burntisland First Aid Services Trust for provision of First Aid cover on race night.
- £400 also to Burntisland First Aid Services Trust as a contribution to the provision of a public accessible defibrillator to be sited on Kinghorn High Street.
The on-line race entries sold out in about 6 hours again in 2015. The Black Rock '5' continues to attract popular support from the running fraternity. We note that many more people are entering as a personal challenge. We will be asking participants to let us know if they are raising money for charity in 2016 and we're hoping to publish the totals with the 2016 report.
Thanks again to the people of Kinghorn for their continuing support. Without the volunteers we wouldn't have such a great event!
