Naylor and HBT win the 20th Black Rock '5' with record field!!!

Don Naylor came home in a time of 23:12 at the head of a record field of 698 finishers. Second, also for HBT, was last year's winner Ray Ward, five seconds in arrears, with Moray Anderson of Corstorphine a further five behind. With Steve Cairns coming in 5th also for HBT, it gave them yet another teams win.

Full race results are now online, with a full report and photos to follow.

Race Director urges caution!!!

Due to upgrade works at Kinghorn Station running over schedule, the first 300 metres of this years race has been reduced in width by about a third. May I ask participants to co-operate with the starting area officials who will be doing their utmost to get everybody away safely and as smoothly as possible.

Time zoning of starters will be in operation so please be honest regarding your anticipated finishing time.

Stop Press --- Stop Press--- Stop Press!!!

Top-ranking 5000m athletes Tariku Bekele and Craig Mottram have not pre-entered for this year's race nor have Koech, Kipchoge or Mosop - and they'll have to arrive early to ensure entry on the night - but there will be plenty of other keen yins among the anticipated 800 runners.

There is, however, another athlete from Australia and one from the USA - although neither are internationalists - and an entry from Holland who may indeed be a Dutch cap. Local bookmakers have installed Al Anthony as the favourite at a rather skinny price of 7/4 - so come along and prove them wrong. Have a great run and an equally enjoyable apres-race!

Last minute information for your attention!!!

The normally quiet seaside village of Kinghorn, and our sponsor at the Ship Tavern, are readying themselves for the influx of athletes of all ages and abilities to this year's race and the vitally important post-race festivities.

Car parking is available in the Primary School grounds with an overflow up the lane to the right of the school to the bottom of the local golf course. There is limited car parking at the Community Centre, but there is another car park 200 metres West. The village however has fairly few restrictions on parking on the streets.

The Community Centre has insufficient toilet facilities for all last minute requirements but there is a very substantial, and very well maintained, toilet block down the steep brae to the south of the railway station, towards the start, and will be signposted on the night. To claim your beer immediately post race you must turn right after emerging the funnels and go around the pub to the garden. Food will be available there later too. Enjoy!!!

Pre-entry now closed!!!

Pre-entry closed over the weekend and the last numbers were posted out, first class, leaving Kinghorn Post Office at 6pm. Many thanks to those 450 runners who availed themselves of our service.

The database has been updated, the forms locked up and the race secretary is having a well earned break until we open up for race entries on the night at Kinghorn Community Centre (6pm sharp). Be early and avoid the queues!!!

Black Rock win for Phil!

Today (Saturday 16th June), saw Philip Robinson ride the Michael Jarvis-trained Black Rock to victory in the 4:45 at Sandown Park. Aficionados will, of course, remember the 1991 successes of the Lester Piggot-ridden Bog Trotter.

Midi Entry Forms!

The organisers wish to apologise for the previous lack of midi-race entry forms on the website - these forms can now be downloaded!

Please note that the Midi Race entry form does contain important information about the time needed to get to the start of this race!

T-Shirt design revealed!

Available on the night, priced only £8 - see t-shirts.
